Frequently Asked Questions

A percentage is a way to express a number as a fraction of 100. The word "percent" means "per hundred." For example, 25% means 25 out of every 100, or 0.25 as a decimal. Percentages are used everywhere — discounts, interest rates, exam scores, GST, and more.
Percentage change compares a new value to an original (reference) value — it shows increase or decrease from a starting point. Percentage difference compares two values without a reference point, using their average as the base. Use percentage change for "before vs after" comparisons; use percentage difference when both values are equally valid.
Use Calculator 1 (What is X% of Y). Enter the discount % and the original price. The result is the discount amount. Subtract it from the original price to get the final price. E.g. 20% of ₹1,000 = ₹200 discount — you pay ₹800.
Use Calculator 1. Enter the GST rate (e.g. 18) and the base price. The result is the GST amount. Add it to the base price for the total. E.g. 18% of ₹1,000 = ₹180 GST — total payable ₹1,180.
Use Calculator 4 (Percentage Change). Enter your old salary as "From" and your new salary as "To." The result shows the exact percentage increase. E.g. from ₹50,000 to ₹60,000 = 20% increase.
